During the Anti-Japanese War, Jiaozhuanghu Village was under the leadership of the Jidong Base at that time. It was located at the junction of Huairou, Miyun and Pinggu counties and was the northwest outpost of the Anti-Japanese Base. At that time, cadres and officers and men of the Eighth Route Army near the base area came to this area to study, rectify, and cultivate, which attracted the attention of the Japanese and puppet troops. Xiao Yongshun was the first to stand up and take the lead in digging tunnels in his own home. On the eve of liberation, Xiao Yongshun was gloriously enlisted in the army. On the battlefield, he charged ahead, killed the enemy bravely, participated in the Liaoshen Campaign, fought in Jinzhou, won third-class merit, was deafened by artillery fire, and was demobilized and returned to his hometown.
1952Xiao Yongshun returned to his hometown as a village cadre. He was honest and devoted himself to the agricultural cooperative movement. In the early winter of 1954, writer Haoran came to Jiaozhuanghu Village. The main interviewee was Xiao Yongshun. Xiao Yongshun organizes everyone to be busy with production every day and has no leisure time. Hao Ran waited for three days, and his heart was not happy. He silently labeled Xiao Yongshun as proud of himself. This day Hao Ran happened to be arranged to have dinner at Xiao Yongshun's house. Dinner was to boil radish.
They were poor and had no food. Xiao Yongshun's father pulled some radishes from the ground and took them home for the guests to eat. When Xiao Yongshun found out, he said that radish was public property and should not be taken. The next day, Xiao Yongshun the radish money back to the village.
Because of this incident, Haoran had a new understanding of Xiao Yongshun and felt that Xiao Yongshun was a good grassroots cadre who was hard-working, simple, honest and upright. Since then, the two have established a deep friendship.
1987In, Haoran returned to Jiaozhuanghu Village to visit Xiao Yongshun. Xiao Yongshun's son quietly found Hao Ran and wanted to ask him to help transfer himself to the county seat. After Xiao Yongshun found out, he told his son that we are party members or party cadres. We must believe in the party's rules and not engage in unhealthy practices.

1995In, Xiao Yongshun calmly left the hot land where he was born, raised and fought for all his life. Before his death, Xiao Yongshun and the old militia often went under the ancient bell at the entrance of the village to recall the eventful years together. For decades, the bell here seems to have never stopped, warning party members and cadres to cultivate their moral integrity, be honest and self-defense, and write a new era with cleanliness and responsibility.
