Liaoning International Cooperation Group Aid Ethiopia Agricultural Technology Project Completion

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of Ethiopia sent a letter to the Commercial Counsellor's Office of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, highly commending the successful implementation of the technical cooperation project of the Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center of China and Egypt. Liaoning International Cooperation Group, as the only executive unit of the project, has successfully completed various assistance tasks entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce since February 2016, and has made great contributions to local agricultural development and improvement of people's living standards.

China's Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center for Ethiopia (hereinafter referred to as "Demonstration Center") is one of the first 14 agricultural technology centers in China to assist Africa. After more than five years of construction and operation, the demonstration center initially formed a certain scale and social benefits in the local area. In February 2016, Liaoning International Cooperation Group participated in the public bidding of the project contractors organized by the Ministry of Commerce and successfully won the bid. It began to undertake various tasks of supporting Ethiopia's agricultural technology projects. After completing the material inventory and handover with the original executing unit of the project, the project team of the company put into work immediately. Within less than one year, the project team completed all the tasks stipulated in the Inner Contracts signed with the Ministry of Commerce, and successfully passed the project acceptance and acceptance organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of China. By the end of 2017, the project team had completed more than 300 mu of maize field planting, 120 mu of vegetable demonstration planting, more than 100 mu of moss bran demonstration planting, more than 80 pigs breeding, more than 20 fattening shelf cattle, more than 8,000 laying hens and broilers breeding, more than 10,000 fresh water fish breeding, 350 kg of edible fungi demonstration planting, and more than 10 items of infrastructure reconstruction and expansion of the demonstration center park. According to the needs of the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture, the project team also conducted more than 1,000 times of agricultural technology training for the officials in charge of agricultural departments of governments at all levels in Ethiopia, professors in the Department of Agriculture of comprehensive universities, teachers and students of Agricultural Vocational and technical colleges, and some farmers'representatives in Jingqi Town, where the demonstration center is located, to improve their theoretical water through classroom lectures, field demonstrations and special lectures. During the implementation of the project, the Minister of agriculture and natural resources, the Minister of state, the director of extension department, the director of education and training, the vice-chairman of Oromia and other high-level officials, teachers and students of local agronomy-related colleges and universities, and farmers in nearby areas visited the demonstration center several times.

In addition, the project team has actively organized experts to extend the technology of "mobile arch shed" suitable for local meteorological and hydrological conditions in Ethiopia to the field. With the support and coordination of the local government in Jingqi Town, experts of the project team have made seamless connections with more than 30 planting and breeding demonstration households, and donated free agricultural materials such as movable arched shed, plastic film, fertilizer, pesticide, vegetable seeds, seedlings, maize seeds, laying hen seedlings and broiler chicken seedlings to the demonstration households, thus gradually expanding the application scope of the "movable arched shed". The project team also set up a free water station at the gate of the demonstration center and provided free irrigation services for demonstration households during the dry season by using mobile water trucks. The technology of "mobile arch shed" enables the majority of demonstration households to cultivate in the dry season, alleviating the problem of vegetable and economic income shortage of local farmers in the dry season. This technology has achieved initial results, and many farmers around the demonstration center are eager to try and learn. After visiting the demonstration center, Dr. Iyasu, Minister of Agriculture of Egypt, highly appreciated and fully affirmed the work of the project team, especially the "mobile arch shed" technology promoted by the project team, and said that it would actively promote nationwide.

At the meeting of all leading cadres at or above the ministry level of Agriculture of the Egyptian side, Minister Iasu briefed the participants in detail on the achievements and improvements made by the demonstration centre, praised the Chinese project team for creating miracles in the technical cooperation projects of the demonstration centre, and asked relevant officials of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Egyptian side to visit and study the demonstration centre as soon as possible, and to promote relevant economy throughout the country. Proven. Reporters from Ethiopian National Television also made a special trip to the demonstration centre in early July 2017 to cover the work of the demonstration centre, so as to further expand the scope of the impact of the results of the work of the demonstration centre. At the same time, at the invitation of Minister Iasu, representatives of the project team went to the Ministry of Agriculture of Egypt on July 14, 2017 to attend the Ethiopian National Agricultural Development Summit Forum and to address the Forum. At the meeting, experts and officials also expressed strong interest in the work of the demonstration center, and expressed their hope to visit and study in the demonstration center.

At present, Egypt has formally submitted an application to the Chinese government in May 2017. It is hoped that the technical cooperation project of China-Egypt Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center will be extended to the end of November 2020.
