Liaoning International Cooperation Group to Aid Ethiopia Agricultural Technology Project Completed

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of Ethiopia sent a letter to the Economic and Commercial Counselor Office of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, highly praising the successful implementation of the technical cooperation project of the China-Egypt Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center. As the sole executive unit of the project, Liaoning International Cooperation Group has successfully completed various assistance tasks entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce since February 2016, and has made great contributions to the development of local agriculture and the improvement of people's living standards.

China-aided Ethiopia Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center (hereinafter referred to as "demonstration center") is one of the first 14 agricultural technology centers in China. After more than 5 years of construction and operation, the demonstration center has initially formed a certain scale and social benefits in the local area. In February 2016, Liaoning International Cooperation Group participated in the public bidding of the project contractor organized by the Ministry of Commerce and successfully won the bid, and began to undertake the work of assisting Ethiopia's agricultural technology project. After completing the material inventory and work handover with the original implementation unit of the project, the company's project team immediately put into work. In less than a year, it fully completed the tasks specified in the "Insourcing Contract" signed with the Ministry of Commerce. And successfully passed the project acceptance organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of China. By the end of 2017, the project team had completed more than 300 mu of corn field planting, more than 120 mu of vegetable demonstration planting, more than 100 mu of bran demonstration planting, more than 80 live pigs, more than 20 fattening cattle, more than 8000 laying hens and broiler chickens, more than 10000 freshwater fish, 350kg of edible fungus demonstration planting, and more than 10 infrastructure reconstruction and expansion projects in the demonstration center park. According to the needs of the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture, the project team has conducted a total of more than 1000 person-times for officials in charge of agricultural departments of Egyptian governments at all levels, professors of agricultural departments of comprehensive universities, teachers and students of agricultural vocational and technical colleges, and representatives of some farmers in Jingqi Town, where the demonstration center is located. Through classroom explanations, field demonstrations, special lectures, etc., the project team has improved its theoretical level and practical skills. The demonstration center has been highly valued by officials at all levels and people from all walks of life in Ethiopia. During the implementation of the project, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Minister of State, the Director of the Extension Department, the Director of Education and Training, and the Vice Chairman of Oromia. High-level officials, teachers and students of local agronomy-related colleges and universities, and farmers in nearby regions have visited the demonstration center many times.

In addition, the project team also actively organized experts to extend the "mobile arch" technology suitable for local meteorological and hydrological conditions in Ethiopia to the fields. With the support and coordination of the local government of Jingqi Town, the experts of the project team have seamlessly connected with more than 30 planting demonstration households and breeding demonstration households, and donated free mobile arches, plastic films, fertilizers, pesticides, vegetable seeds, Seedlings, corn seeds, laying hens and chicken seedlings, meat-eating chicken seedlings and other agricultural materials to gradually expand the application scope of "mobile arches. The project team also set up a free tap water station at the gate of the demonstration center and used mobile water trucks to provide free irrigation services for demonstration households during the dry season. The "mobile arch shed" technology enables the vast number of demonstration households to cultivate in the dry season, alleviating the problem of local farmers' lack of vegetables and economic income in the dry season. This technology has achieved initial results, and many farmers around the demonstration center are eager to try and compete to learn. After visiting the demonstration center, Dr. Iyasu, Minister of Agriculture of Ethiopia, highly appreciated and fully affirmed the work of the project team, especially gave a high evaluation of the "mobile arch" technology promoted by the project team, and said that it would actively carry out nationwide promotion.

At the meeting of all leading cadres at and above the department level of the Ministry of agriculture of Ethiopia, Minister Iyasu informed the participants in detail of the achievements and changes made by the demonstration center, praised the Chinese project team for creating miracles in the technical cooperation project of the demonstration center, and asked relevant officials of the Ministry of agriculture of Ethiopia to visit and study the demonstration center as soon as possible, And promote the relevant experience nationwide. A reporter from Ethiopian National Television also made a special trip to the demonstration center in early July 2017 to conduct interviews and reports, which further expanded the scope of the work results of the demonstration center. At the same time, at the invitation of Minister Iyasu, representatives of the project team went to the Ministry of Agriculture of Ethiopia on July 14, 2017 to participate in the "Ethiopia National Agricultural Development Summit Forum" and spoke at the forum. At the meeting, various experts and officials also expressed strong interest in the work of the demonstration center, and expressed their hope to visit and study in the demonstration center.

At present, Egypt has formally applied to the Chinese government in May 2017, hoping to extend the technical cooperation project of the China-Egypt Agricultural Technology demonstration Center to the end of November 2020, and Liaoning International Cooperation Group will actively strive for the qualification for the next phase of the project.
