In the face of the continued spread of the new crown epidemic around the world, the foreign aid project team of the Liaoning International Cooperation Group is actively helping local people to fight the epidemic and people's livelihood while preventing and controlling the epidemic, ensuring the smooth progress of foreign aid projects and the health and safety of staff.
The staff of the project team to aid the Gegedu rice reclamation area in Côte d'Ivoire are facing unprecedented pressure. The number of local infections is increasing, medical supplies are scarce, and what is worse, rare heavy rains have caused floods, causing many demonstration households in the reclamation area and surrounding farmers. The rice fields were washed away, the grain production was reduced and the roads were severely damaged and impassable. In the face of the epidemic and flood, our project team took active actions. First, we provided new rice seeds for farmers whose rice fields were destroyed to help them re-raise and transplant seedlings to ensure this year's harvest as much as possible. The second is to open up a total of 4.2km of roads within two months, improving local traffic problems. With the help of the project team, the disaster in the surrounding villages has been alleviated, the lives of residents have been improved, and the understanding and friendship between the local people and the project team have been enhanced. The mayor of the local Ogudu, the Ogudu Village Collective and the Gegedu Rice Growers Association have sent letters to the project team to express their gratitude.
